My first HOT weather dress...This was my second attempt at a viking dress, and my first serious attempt at a Hedeby-style cut. It has shaped armscyes, and sleeve heads, which I would call a success. It also has lots of gores, which were impressive, in the how full they made the skirt; but a little sketchy in that I was in a hurry and inserted a few of them into shallow darts, rather than setting them into properly bound slits. Not strictly correct, not strictly WRONG, just a grey area I haven't revisited.
After a coulple of seasons, I decided that this frock was looking awfully plain, and made some simple braid, from DMC embroidery floss, and tacked it around the cuffs and neckline.
